Dude, Rammstein are not Nazis!!

It’s not really about that. It is difficult to prove, whether someone believes in Nazism or not. The purpose of this site is not to argue that question. It’s about whether they are putting symbolism in their music and videos that can be interpreted in a way that is Nazi. They can be trying to appeal to Nazis and not be Nazis themselves and it would seem to be difficult to deny that a lot of their fans are Nazis. This website just shows how Rammstein symbolism can be interpreted in a Nazi way.

So what, if Rammstein are Nazis? It’s freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech protects you from the Government limiting the speech of citizens. It does not protect you from criticism from other private citizens. No one has the right to suppress legitimate critical opinions of others. That would be censorship, not free speech.

Why won’t you post my comments? You’re a Nazi yourself!!

Since this is not a Government site it is not required to give equal time to everyone (see above). There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Rammstein Fan’s and there is no desire to be flamed by hordes of enraged Rammstein fans. Also, these fans repeat over and over the same disinformation that the Rammstein disinformation mill puts out. So, those comments and questions will be dealt with here or elsewhere in the website once, but not posted repeatedly in the comments section, with usual accompanying insults and profanity. There are dozens or other places where Rammstein fans can express their opinion. Freedom of speech does not mean you have the right to drown out the opinions of others in their own private area. You can start your own website.

Doesn’t the fact that they made a gay video prove that they are not Nazi?

Many of the early Nazis were gay and some people suspect Hitler of being gay. Being gay does not preclude you from being a Nazi.

However, that said, it is not even clear that the Video, “Mann gegen Mann” presents a pro-homosexual theme. Lindemann screams “Schwuler!” many times. “Schwuler” can be pejorative, depending on how it’s used, meaning “Pansy” or “faggot”. When he screams the word and a forked tongue licks out of his mouth, one may well think he is using the word in the pejorative sense.

In the Interview in Sweden of Lindemann and another band member, they use the slur “Faggot” many times. (There is a link for this interview in the blogroll on the right.) So, it is not at all clear that Rammstein presents a positive attitude towards homosexuals.

Doesn’t the fact that they have a black manager prove that they are not Nazi?

This site is not about their personal life, or if they actually believe in Nazism or not. It is about whether they are putting material in the music and videos that can be interpreted in a Nazi way. However having a black person work for you does not “prove” you are not a Nazi. The band could do that as way a to deflect criticism, of the Nazi symbolism used in their performances.

Doesn’t the fact that Richard Knuspe married a Jew prove that they are not Nazi?

This site is not about their personal life, or if they actually believe in Nazism or not. It is about whether they are putting material in the music and videos that alludes to Nazism. There is no way to know the details of that situation. However, no single action of any one member of the band can prove that no one in the band has Nazi political sympathies.

Rammstein are are “nice guys” doesn’t that they are not Nazi?

This site is not about their personal life, or if they actually believe in Nazism or not. It is about whether they are putting material in the music and videos that can be interpreted in a Nazi way.

However, some of the original Nazis were “nice guys” also. Reinhold Heydrich, for example, was very personable in his private life, a family man and musician and composer of music. But he was also a Nazi and known as the “Butcher of Prague” and “the Blond Beast”. He was the key architect of the genocide of millions of jews and others, but was known as a “nice guy” and a family person in his personal life.
